Saying Good Bye to Lions Member, Tommy Nokk

The Osseo Lions Club and the greater Lions District 5M-5 community mourns today for the passing of Lion Tommy Nokk.

Lion Tommy, a U.S. Veteran, was a loving husband of 16 years to past Lion Diane Nokk, who served as President of the Osseo Lions Club and later as Governor of District 5M-5.

Lions Tommy and Diane had a special fondness for the Minnesota Twins, and thanks to fellow members, Lion Mike and Tina Danelisu, they were able to attend one more special game together in the Champions Club just weeks before Diane passed away in 2018.

Lion Tommy was a great Lion for just short of 12 years, as well as a good friend to his Osseo Lions and Brooklyn Park Lions members.

Sadly, because of the care and loss of his wife during her battle with cancer and then with his own personal health challenges, Lion Tommy never got to enjoy his retirement from Metro Transit in the way that he had hoped to. Nonetheless, Lion Tommy would continue to show up to serve.

He faced tremendous physical challenges in recent years because of severe kidney stone disease, but he continued to serve alongside other Osseo Lions Club members whenever possible.

He would attend district and club functions to volunteer his time and talents, and you could often find Lion Tommy serving at some of his favorite club events like the Spring Intermarque Car Show BBQ tent, the Lions Roar Food tent, VA fundraising events, and our Palm Sunday Pancake Breakfast, plus more.

Lion Tommy continued to serve until his recent battle with cancer proved to be too much, and he could no longer "push through" his pain and limitations.

He will be remembered fondly for his contributions to the Osseo Lions Club and to Project New Hope, which he chaired in District 5M-5 (http://www.projectnewhope.net/), along with the larger communities of Brooklyn Park and Osseo, Minnesota.

Lion Tommy can now join his wife Diane in their heavenly home.

Obituary for Tommy A. NokkAge 66, of Big Lake, passed away on March 2, 2023 surrounded by family. Preceded in death by his wife, Diane, loving parents, Steve & Dorie Nokk, sister Jackie Hipsag, brother Frank Nokk.

Tommy worked for Metro Transit for the last 20 years, he also worked as an over-the-road truck driver. Tommy was involved with the Lions organization and enjoyed his time with them. He loved helping out with the animals at Eric's, fishing, riding his motorcycle and traveling. He was a wonderful friend, brother, uncle and great uncle to many. Tommy was a gentle man with many friends and his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.He is survived by his sisters, Donna (Todd) Gause, JoAnn (Gary) Hetrick, brothers, Steve (Betty) Nokk, John (Ann) Nokk, his dogs Buddy & Max, nieces, nephews and many good friends.
